2. General information on data processing

This website is built to minimise data. It sets no cookies and embeds no tracking or advertising networks. GoatCounter is used for anonymous analytics (see section 4); no personal data is stored in the process.

3. Hosting

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (San Francisco, USA). When you access this website, the hosting provider automatically stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser transmits automatically. These are:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • date and time of access
  • name and URL of the file retrieved
  • referrer URL (the page visited previously)
  • browser used and, where applicable, operating system

This data is processed by Netlify. Further information can be found in Netlify's privacy policy.

The legal basis for processing the server log data is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in providing this website free of technical faults and in its security and stability. The server log data is kept only for as long as necessary for these purposes; the specific retention period is determined by the deletion routines of the hosting provider Netlify, Inc.

Netlify, Inc. is based in the USA, so personal data (in particular your IP address) may be transferred to the USA. Netlify, Inc. is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For transfers to US companies certified under this framework, the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision under Art. 45 GDPR (Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1795 of 10 July 2023), so an adequate level of data protection is ensured.

4. Analytics (GoatCounter)

This website uses GoatCounter to measure its reach, a privacy-friendly, open-source analytics tool. GoatCounter uses no cookies and stores no IP addresses. No personal data is collected and no cross-device profiles are built. Only anonymous, aggregated information is recorded, such as the page visited, the referrer URL, the approximate country-level origin, the browser type and the screen size.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in data-minimising, anonymous analytics). Because no information is stored on or read from your device, no consent under § 25 TDDDG (German data protection law for telecommunications and digital services, formerly TTDSG) is required. 5. No cookies

This website uses no cookies. The colour theme you select is stored solely in your browser's local storage (localStorage) and is not transmitted to the server.

6. External links

This website contains links to external websites (e.g. GitHub). When you click these links, you are forwarded to the servers of the respective providers, which have their own privacy policies.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17) and restriction of processing (Art. 18) in respect of your personal data, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): Where your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), which here concerns the storage of your IP address in the server log files, you have the right to object to that processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.
