Statistics Workshop in Numbers

In spring 2017 I started StatistikWerkstatt Leipzig — a freelance statistics coaching and consulting service aimed at university students writing their theses. What began as tutoring sessions for a few psychology undergrads grew into a proper operation: study design advice, data analysis, software training, and the occasional existential crisis about p-values.

Most clients found me through word of mouth or the university’s bulletin boards. I worked with students across disciplines — from psychology and economics to veterinary medicine — helping them navigate everything from t-tests to panel regressions. The tools varied (SPSS was king, R was gaining ground, Stata held strong in economics), but the core problem was always the same: I have data, now what?

I stopped taking paid clients after moving to Frankfurt in 2023, but I still help with the occasional doctoral thesis on the side. The numbers below cover all 189 thesis projects from 2017 to 2025.
