Statistics Workshop in Numbers

Based on personal data.

In spring 2017 I started StatistikWerkstatt Leipzig — a space for students needing help with their theses or stats coursework. It began with mainly tutoring sessions but grew quickly into a larger operation that gave me insights into many fields in which statistics is applied.

I worked with students across disciplines — from psychology and economics to veterinary medicine — helping them navigate everything from t-tests, survey design to panel regressions (my favourite). The tools also varied from SPSS, Stata to R and smartPLS, but the core problem was mostly the same: What the hell is statistics?

I stopped taking new clients after moving to Frankfurt in 2023, but I still help with the occasional doctoral thesis on the side. The numbers below cover all 189 thesis projects from 2017 to 2025.
