Supermarket Prices in Western Leipzig

This poster was designed by Carlotta Weiser. The underlying map is based on OpenStreetMap data and was generated with MapOSMatic.

Prices were surveyed in September 2018.

Motivation

The Georg-Schwarz-Strasse offers a wide selection of shops. Whether it’s Rewe & Penny in the Leutzsch Arcades, Konsum & Aldi a bit further towards the city centre, or the member-run cooperative schwarzwurzel at the entrance to the street — there’s something for everyone.

You might have a rough idea of which stores are cheaper or more expensive, but actually verifying this is tedious. So I set out to create at least a basic comparison of a handful of groceries across the local shops.
